    Dear Committee
Can you tell me who is responsible for the cyclone fence that has been put up next to Harrys Cafe at Woolloomooloo? I visit there weekly and made enquiries about when it will be removed but have not been able to find the source.

      Hello Elaine,

Thanks for your email: I’ve passed your query on to the 2011RA committee. I suspect that the City of Sydney would be the first port of call – did you ask them, and if yes, what did they say? It could possibly be considered a naval issue too. Well worth investigating – I agree it is an eyesore!

    Hello Ruth
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I contacted the City of Sydney but they told me they were not responsible for the fence. I then contacted the Navy but have not received any response. I also spoke to the Manager of Harrys and he says he was told that it was either Finger Wharf Authority or Maritime services. He has tried finding out but no luck. I searched for a Finger Wharf authority but no luck so I will try the Maritime services. Any other suggestions or leads and I’m happy to follow up.

    Dear Committee,

Any support you can offer to oppose the proposed extension of trading hours of the convenience store located on the corner of Challis Avenue and Macleay Street to 24/7 would be greatly appreciated.( proposal number D/2013/108) Potts Point is not an entertainment district and it is my belief that allowing this convenience store to trade 24/7 simply encourages the anti social behaviour seen in the Kings Cross precinct creeping down to Potts Point. This proposal in no way enhances the amenity of the Potts Point area.

      Hi Richard
A number of people as well as 2011RA wrote to Council to try to keep their trading hours the same. Unfortunately this simply fell on deaf ears. Please join our Monday 4th November meeting at 6:30 pm at the Rex. We would be delighted to meet you.
We are working on a number of actions to ensure this area remains livable. We need more voices – so Council starts to listen.

i received this response from city of sydney and have approached RMS- still waiting for a reply- perhaps if we all write, phone them, we will get some action.

    Hi ..

I believe the area you refer to is owned by Roads and Maritime Services. I understand that the fence was installed to protect the public from a seawall that was failing in this area and that the wall is undergoing repairs.

The City did not erect the fence or give consent for the fencing. RMS should be able to provide further details about the works.

    Dear Committee,

I moved into the Zenith building (82-94 Darlinghurst Road, Potts Point) just over 3 weeks ago, and we are experiencing incredible noise levels from the rooftop terrace of the King’s Cross Hotel directly below us. Naturally we expected some traffic and background noise given our location, but the crowd at this venue seems to very loud and disruptive most nights, and up to 3am on the worst ones.

I wondered if you have had anyone previously raise concerns about this venue and the noise generated from there? I am logging complaints with King’s Cross police but am wondering if this will generate much of a response? Is there a better way I should approach this?

Unfortunately I will be overseas when the next committee meeting and King’s Cross police event takes place in December, or else I would definitely have attended.

    Many thanks for your help,

Thanks for your message. Apologies for not responding earlier. We haven’t previously had any complaints regarding this particular area. We would be pleased to assist you if possible. Our next meeting is on Monday 3rd February at 6.30pm.
