Residents of Kings Cross, Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay, Rushcutters Bay and Woolloomooloo
The following letter by 2011RA member Rebecca Wright was published in the Daily Telegraph 31st May 2012:
I am confused. If Council did misplace an 11 page objection from police about the DA for a tattoo parlour, then why are there two paragraphs in the DA Assessment making reference to the concerns expressed by police (Ibrahim paralour protest file lost, May 30)?
I should have thought that any objections to a DA by police would warrant a full debate.
Perhaps just as worrying, is Council’s admission that criminal and anti-social behaviour is not a planning consideration. If that be so, why all the ongoing pretence from Council about community consultation?
This scenario speaks volumes about the problems with too much government, particularly since the Council approved this DA just days before Barry O’Farrell’s new regulations.
What recourse do residents have if crime and anti-social behaviour are not within Council’s brief and they ignore the advice of police on such matters?
