13 May 2009 – Rally and Presentation of Petitions at Parliament House
The 311 bus campaign continues, notwithstanding the changes to the bus service introduced on 26 April 2009.
Over 70 residents rallied outside Parliament House on 13 May 2009 and were successful in attracting the attention of parliamentarians and the press.
Residents presented a petition signed by 1,475 people to Upper House representatives Lynda Voltz of the ALP and Sylvia Hale of The Greens.
Local media, including the Wentworth Courier and City News, attended and photographed the rally (see the Wentworth Courier story and photos, and the City News story).
The Shadow Minister for Transport, Gladys Berejiklian MP, met residents and was very interested in their views. Gladys indicated that she wanted to meet a delegation and residents intend to meet with her shortly.
The local state MP, Clover Moore, accompanied by a photographer, then met with residents. Residents have asked for a delegation of people directly affected by the changes to meet with her.
The brightest news was the announcement that the Minister for Transport, David Campbell MP, will meet with a delegation in the next few weeks! We are pushing for a date.
The 2011 Residents Association thanks all those who were able to atttend and put their concerns to the politicians.
