311 bus route cuts – Residents’ public meeting 12pm this Saturday 28 March – McElhone Reserve, Elizabeth Bay
2011RA is organising a residents’ meeting scheduled for 12pm this Saturday 28 March at McElhone Reserve, Elizabeth Bay to send the NSW Government the message that Elizabeth Bay residents need a bus service. What will Sydney Buses do to meet the transport needs of Elizabeth Bay residents after they cut the 311 bus route on 26 April?
We are actively inviting all local residents to attend. We understand that the Wentworth Courier will be attending and we have invited the Minister for Transport, Clover Moore MP and all local Councillors to attend.
Below is an explanation of the background.
As many locals will know, the 311 bus route is currently set to be cut back from 26 April. It will use Gresham St in the city as a terminus (it won’t stop at Circular Quay), and the Ithaca Rd / Billyard Ave / Onslow Ave part of the route in Elizabeth Bay will be removed.
Together with locals and other community groups including D.R.A.G. (Darlinghurst Residents’ Action Group), 2011RA has vocally campaigned to maintain the existing route. Elizabeth Bay locals organised petitions against the changes signed by hundreds. Many locals have contacted 2011RA in the last week saying that the changes will be very bad for less mobile residents.
Sydney Buses needs to tell the community how the transport needs of Elizabeth Bay residents will be met from 26 April.
